Ny analyse fra Eurodad: Haitis gjeldsbyrde - den virkelige historien

En ny analyse fra Eurodad avslører at Haiti, til tross for mye snakk om gjeldsslette etter jordskjelvkatastrofen, er forventet å betale tilbake 1.2 billioner dollar til de internasjonale finansintitusjonene.

Selv før jordskjelvkatastrofen var det forventet at Haiti, et land der mer en tre fjerdedeler av befolkningen lever på under to dollar dagen, skulle bruke nesten en tiendedel av sine inntekter til å betale ned på gjeld til de internasjonale finansinstitusjonene. Med synkende inntekter og en økende gjeld vil gjeldsbetalingene sannsynligvis stige langt over denne tiendedelen. Om ikke Haiti får slettet gjeld snart er ser det mørkt ut for gjenoppbyggingen av landet.
